The German Federal Department of the Environment has published a new paper on sustainability reporting with the title "Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung. Empfehlungen für eine gute Unternehmenspraxis" (PDF 0,4 Mb, Sustainability Reporting. Recommendations for good business practice). It outlines the aims and contents of sustainability reports.

Resource Efficiency - Working in Networks and Creating Sustainable Products |

This is the motto of the 16th business talks of the Club of Wuppertal that take place on September the 16th and 17th in Essen. In two sessions the event deals with the issue of resource efficiency as well as sustainable product design and presents specific real life examples from economy and science. Brigitte Bierman is going to present latest project results from the field of resource efficiency. Participants are invited to intensively commute and reflect with each other on results and experiences from the sessions. Holzwende 2020 - New Markets for Wood as Building Material |

The project "Holzwende 2020" that was brought to life by support money of the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) is meant to develop new markets for the natural resource wood. Together with different partners from research and practice triple innova is therefor searching for innovative uses and marketing opportunities for wood as building material. With this the chances of building with wood should get known better in science, politics and economy. Global Reporting Initiative Conference May 2008 |

Early in May 2008 the second Global Conference of the Global Reporting Initiative took place. Over 1000 participants from 58 countries gathered in Amsterdam to discuss sustainability and transparency in sustainability reporting.

Carbon Footprint for Products |

In science and the public it is worked on the carbon footprint for products, for example in the course of the congress "Carbon Footprint of products - Methodology and Communication" on April 28th in Berlin organised by the Federal Environment Ministry, the Federal Environment Agency and Öko-Institute. Roughly 250 participants, most of them business representatives, attended this congress. The presentations can be watched online.

Das Bundesumweltministerium bietet einen aktuellen Leitfaden (PDF 0,4 Mb) für Unternehmen an, die in die Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung einsteigen wollen.
Zudem ist ein Handbuch (PDF 1,53 Mb), das die wichtigsten Managementtools für Nachhaltigkeitsstrategien beschreibt und bewertet, vom Bundesumweltministerium neu aufgelegt worden und kostenlos erhältlich.
