Sustainability at Klasmann-Deilmann GmbH Print
In: What's new?

In 2011 triple innova supported Klasmann-Deilmann’s efforts to pay greater attention to sustainability within its business activities. Klasmann-Deilmann is a world-leading producer of growing medium for the horticultural industry.

In workshops that took place in February and June 2011, triple innova discussed the concept of sustainability with decision makers within the company and worked with them to develop an understanding of the company’s specific sustainability challenges.  The extent to which the company already had sustainability practice in place was also defined.

In addition, the workshop assisted the decision makers to focus on the material issues facing the company and to fine-tune the company’s sustainability strategy. The great sustainability challenge for Klasmann-Deilmann is that the principal growing medium used by the horticultural industry is peat - a resource that is very slow to replenish.

The first sustainability analysis showed that Klasmann-Deilmann is operating sustainably in many areas, but that the company has only taken initial steps in other areas.

In autumn 2011 triple innova supported Klasmann-Deilmann by critically reviewing the drafts of its external sustainability communications. Klasmann-Deilmann GmbH’s first sustainability report will be published in April 2012.
