C&A was awarded the Golden Econ Award by the publisher Econ and the newspaper Handelsblatt in 2008 for the sustainability report "We C&Are".

The statement of the jury reads as follows: (freely translated) "Under the motto "responsible action" C&A sets standards with its sustainability report concerning transparency and authenticity. The demanding and substantial documentation of its own commitment is outstanding and it convinces especially through the self-critical description of the companies environmental and social responsibility."

Since 2007, Econ publishing and Handelsblatt have honoured best practices in business communication in the German language with this award. "The high involvement shows that for companies their own communication becomes more important" reports Klaus Rainer Kirchhoff, co-editor and chairman of the jury of the yearbook of business communication.

After a successful premiere last year more than 150 participants of ambitious medium-sized, as well as listed, companies took part in the competition. From a shortlist of 99 contributions, 23 awards were made for best practice examples in creative and efficient business communication.
