Under the name INFRAFUTUR a research partnership between municipal
companies, related associations, the Wuppertal Institute, and triple
innova has teamed up for three years to open “Perspectives of Local
Infrastructures in the Context of Competition, Climate Change and
Quality of Service”. The focus is put on public services provided by
municipal companies in the fields of energy, water, sewage, and waste
where conditions have changed through changing frameworks in a
fundamental way. Central elements of it are the intense cooperation
between researchers and practitioners, the concentrated dialogue among
companies, associations, and scientific advisors as well as the
application of an innovative combined analysis of strengths and
